On this evening at the Philharmonie, the number of men in shorts casually outnumbers those in suits. At the start of the “Musikfest Berlin,” the capital’s most important classical music event, there are hardly any dignitaries in sight. Instead, the audience is filled with curious people of all ages and walks of life. They are clearly not seeking a glamorous event at the Musikfest Berlin but rather the challenge presented by the truly exceptional program of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra.
